I attach a copy of a personal telegram from General Carton de Wiart to General Ismay ( (W.1686).
The Chiefs of Staff at their meeting this morning considered the compromise suggestion con- tained in paragraph 6 of this telegram, and instructed me to inform you that they have no objection to this compromise, and would be grate- ful if the Foreign Office would consider the matter and take what action they consider neces- sary. General Carton de Wiart has been informed accordingly.
